AWARNESS PROGRAMME AT OLD AGE HOMES UNDER GUWAHATI CITY
On Thursday, 14 May 2026, the two Commissioners of the Pranam Commission, Shri Phanindra Kumar Bujar Baruah and Smti Jugabala Buragohain, visited old age homes in Guwahati city under their leadership. The team visited “Life Line Care Home” at Satgaon, “Amar Ghar” at Barbari VIP Road, and “Jai Mata Di” Old Age Home at Forest Gate. During the visits, they interacted with the residents, enquired about their well-being, and created awareness regarding the activities and functions of the Commission.
Special discussions were held with residents who had taken shelter in these homes after being neglected by their children, including those employed under the Government of Assam. The Commissioners provided guidance and counselling to them.
The Commission observed that most of the residents were living happily and that the staff members were working with great sincerity and dedication. However, in terms of infrastructure, especially at Life Line Care Home and Jai Mata Di Ashram, there is still considerable scope for improvement. Some recommendations and suggestions identified by the Commission were also conveyed during the visit.
The team was accompanied by the Commission’s accountant, Arup Kumar Das, and staff member Abhijit Baishya.
